Practical AI & Automation Pilot

Put one useful AI idea to the test.

Move from possibilities to evidence. Layer One helps you select a bounded use case, define human oversight, and test whether AI or automation can improve real work.

The problem

A convincing demo is only the beginning.

A pilot needs representative inputs, a clear success measure, and a way to handle uncertainty. We help establish those conditions, compare results with today’s process, and decide whether to stop, refine, or move toward supported operation.

This may be your starting point if…

  • Your team has many ideas but no clear first use case.
  • A manual task consumes time and follows recognizable rules.
  • You need evidence about quality, effort, cost, and review requirements.
What's included

What we work toward together

Scope is agreed around your priorities, systems, and team. The engagement can include:

A use-case decision brief and baseline of the current process.

A scoped pilot with approved information access and human review.

An evaluation set covering normal cases and important exceptions.

A findings report with a recommendation and production-readiness gaps.

How it works

How the engagement works

Layer One combines manufacturing and distribution experience with assessments, advisory services, engineering, training, and ongoing improvement. We build on existing systems and proven capabilities, including Commergenix where it fits the work. Your team helps shape the approach and owns the decisions that affect the business.

  1. 1

    Choose a useful test

Assess value, feasibility, information readiness, and operational risk.

  2. 2

    Build with review

Configure the workflow, boundaries, fallback behavior, and usage measurement.

  3. 3

    Evaluate the evidence

Compare quality and effort and document the next investment decision.

FAQ

Questions before you begin

Does every pilot use generative AI?

No. A rules-based workflow or conventional automation may be the better answer.

Does a successful pilot go straight into production?

Production requires a separate review of reliability, access, monitoring, support, and ownership. We identify those needs in the findings.

How do we agree the scope and commitment?

We begin with a conversation about the problem, the people involved, and the information available. We then agree deliverables, responsibilities, timing, and commercial terms. The work can be scoped independently or within an ongoing Layer One partnership.
