Anyone who has taught wilderness classes specializing in winter survival has to be slightly off. Ryan Finco wouldn’t disagree with this, but as a survival trainer, he’d also add the love of problem-solving in tough situations is also a prerequisite. This is exactly why he excels at project management. Ryan has managed technical projects ranging from one-of-a-kind hand-held devices and on-line CMS systems to web applications and financial management tools. He believes that technology is mundane, but it’s the applications that are creative and unique. Ryan is, by his own term, a “benevolent dictator.” He remains open to ideas and always considers the human element, but ensures deadlines are met and everyone on the team is working towards the same goal. Project management is a culture and a process: anything can be tackled when the problem is broken into pieces. With Ryan leading, Layer One’s clients have an excellent chance at surviving, even thriving in, the technological wilderness.
